Tivoli Christmas Tickets 2026: Which Ticket to Buy and Whether It's Worth It
Tivoli's Christmas season runs 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. Entry is ticketed by date, rides cost extra, and here is which ticket fits which visit. Checked October 2026.
Yes, you pay to get in. Tivoli’s Christmas market is inside the gardens, and the gardens are ticketed by date from 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. For most visitors the right buy is the plain Christmas-season entry ticket, booked for an evening, with rides left off. Buy the ride pass only if you are going with children or you know you want the coasters.

The Christmas-season entry ticket on GetYourGuide is $32 and holds 4.6/5 from 611 reviews (checked October 2026). It is sold by date, so the calendar below shows which evenings are still open:
Do you have to pay to go to the Tivoli Christmas market?
Yes. There is no free route past the stalls: the market is spread through the garden, and the garden has gates. Copenhagen’s free Christmas markets are elsewhere, on Nyhavn and on Gammeltorv and Nytorv along Strøget. If you only want stalls and gløgg, those cost nothing, and our Tivoli or Nyhavn comparison helps you decide.
How much does it cost to get into Tivoli at Christmas?
Tivoli prices entry by date, and sometimes by time of entry, so there is no single figure. Listings for the 2026 season put adult entry at roughly 200 to 220 DKK, with children aged 3 to 7 at about half that and under-3s free (checked October 2026). Weekend evenings in December are the dearest and the busiest.
Rides are not included in an entry ticket. You either pay per ride or buy an unlimited ride pass on top, which is why the combined ticket exists.
Which ticket should you buy?
Christmas Season Entry Ticket
Entry on your chosen date. Enough for the market, the lights and the food halls; rides are paid separately.

Entry plus unlimited rides for the day. Pays off once you plan more than a few rides each.
See the combo →Prices, ratings and review counts from our October 2026 data check. Tivoli prices by date, so treat these as the shape of the market, not a quote.
If you are buying a Copenhagen Card anyway, it covers Tivoli’s entry but not its rides. On a market-led trip it rarely pays for itself, and our Copenhagen Card break-even page shows the arithmetic.
Is the Tivoli Christmas market worth it?
For a first visit at Christmas, yes, as long as you treat it as an evening out rather than a market. You are paying for the setting: a garden that opened in 1843, strung with lights, with about sixty wooden stalls, the 1914 wooden roller coaster still running, and indoor halls and restaurants to retreat into when the weather turns. Nyhavn gives you a better photograph for free; Tivoli gives you a whole evening.
It is less worth it if you are in Copenhagen for an afternoon, if your budget is tight, or if crowds wear you down. December weekend evenings are the garden’s busiest of the year.
Is Tivoli worth it if you don’t like rides?
Yes. Most adults at Christmas never queue for a ride. The lights, the stalls, the food and the atmosphere are the point, and an entry ticket covers all of them. Skip the ride pass.
How long do you need in Tivoli at Christmas?
Plan three to four hours. It gets dark in Copenhagen before 16:00 in December, so arriving around sunset gives you the garden in daylight and then lit up, with time for dinner inside. A quick walk round takes about an hour, which is rarely worth the ticket on its own.
Is Tivoli open on Christmas Eve?
Check the daily calendar before you plan around it. Whether the garden opens on 24 December 2026 is reported both ways, and the venue’s own pages have not settled it yet. Christmas Eve is the main day of Danish Christmas, so the city is quiet that evening anyway; our guide to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Copenhagen covers what is open.
When to go
- Weeknights in late November and early December are the calmest time to see everything running.
- Weekend evenings in December are the busiest. Book ahead and arrive at opening or after the dinner rush.
- Between Christmas and New Year the garden is still open while most street markets have closed, which makes it the main event that week.
